The City of Sheridan is a small municipality of approximately two square miles located in Arapahoe County in the southwestern portion of the Denver metropolitan area. The City of Sheridan has proposed a new Comprehensive Plan to be officially adopted in the second quarter of 2015. Working in partnership with the City of Sheridan, Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) conducted a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of the proposed Sheridan Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of the HIA was to assess the potential impact the plan’s policies would have on health and to provide recommendations to maximize positive health outcomes through the Comprehensive Plan. While the HIA is designed to be a tool for the Sheridan Planning Commission and City Council, the decision-makers in the Comprehensive Plan process, the findings and recommendations are a resource for other groups and processes in Sheridan to optimize positive health outcomes.
